Egon Schiele
Egon Schiele
With his signature graphic style, embrace of figure distortion, and bold defiance of conventional norms of beauty, Egon Schiele was one of the leading figures of Austrian Expressionism. His portraits and self-portraits—searing explorations of their sitters' psyches and sexuality—are among the most remarkable of the twentieth century. Despite Egon Schiele's short life, the artist produced an astonishing number of works on canvas and paper. He was instrumental in formulating the character of early twentieth-century Expressionism, characterised by the use of irregular contours, an often sombre palette, and frequently dark symbolism. I personally think that Egon Schiele's work is extremely intriguing. I like that the figures in his paintings are distorted and that he focuses on large hands. I would like to use this artist for my museum proposal because, I have been enjoying my life drawing classes and I think that with the mythical, fantasy theme I have for my idea I think that he could work really well as one of my artists. I also like Gustav Klimt's work and I was surprised to find out that Egon Schiele was inspired by Klimt and was his Successor.
