Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop artist and his work was inspired by comic book style and popular advertising. Lichtenstein used oil and Magna acrylic paint in his best known works, such as Drowning Girl (1963), which also features thick outlines, bold colours and Ben-Day dots, as if created by photographic reproduction. I really love this painting of a sunrise by Lichtenstein because I love the use of detail in the background and I actually re-created this painting in my GCSE art course. I love the use of Ben-Day dots and pointillism used in this painting and the vivid colours in his work.
